BF6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Overly Demanding

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, notably for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to obtain particular firearms.

Players have started resorting to custom matches set up using the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.

Comprehending Battlefield 6 Assignments

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. It features four classes of assignments, but where most simply offer skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

A number of these restricted firearms could shortly make their appearance on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and is effective only at very short distances, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The commenter also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Challenge

One more community participant highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with sniper rifles

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, Mirak Valley, and perhaps a classic map if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: the portal. The Battlefield Portal is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.

However, when tackling the tasks in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for finishing these in a personal session so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

Currently, the community continues to express their views on these demanding in-game tasks, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
